Synopsis:
SALTO circumscribes in slow motion the dramatically contrasting landscapes of Madeira Island, Portugal. Friction between rocks, salt water, wind, feathers, fur, moss and concrete. The emergence of a human body from the ground in a single dance movement suspends time for a moment before everything melts back into matter. Letting the voices of non-human people resound, SALTO silently comments on the capitalization of nature by colonial and tourist exploitation.

SALTO circunscreve em camera lenta as paisagens dramaticamente contrastantes da Ilha da Madeira, Portugal. Atritos entre rochas, água salgada, vento, penas, peles, musgo e concreto. A emergência de um corpo humano do chão em um único movimento de dança suspende o tempo por um momento antes que tudo se derreta novamente na matéria. Deixando ressoar as vozes de pessoas não humanas, SALTO comenta silenciosamente a capitalização da natureza pela exploração colonial e turística.

Marc Philipp Gabriel is a performance artist based in Berlin. His work at the intersection of body, dance, voice, installation, video and architecture offers unconventional angles on social norms and contributes to the discourse on future models of life together with planet Earth.
