Synopsis:
Venus is an anti-goddess that emerges from the polluted foam of the northern Chilean sea. It appears as a “soul in torment”, an expression of a latent threat, of the savage pollution that turned the bay’s territory into a “Sacrifice Zone”. Venus personifies the advance of the Chilean extractive economy, presenting itself as an enigma revealed through geography and the tones and textures of different costumes.

Sinopse:
Vênus é uma antideusa que emerge da espuma poluída do mar do norte do Chile. Aparece como uma “alma em tormento”, expressão de uma ameaça latente, da poluição selvagem que tornou o território da baía em uma “Zona de Sacrifício”. Vênus personifica o avanço da economia extrativista chilena, apresentando-se como um enigma revelado através da geografia e de tons e texturas de diferentes figurinos.

Mini bio:

Claudia Moreno Pastenes, born in Antofagasta, Chile, has been working since 2018 as a producer for several theater groups, in addition to directing the theater and memory festival “Matanza en tu Plaza”. She is currently building a self-managed cultural center for young artists in an abandoned house. Her work is closely linked to the arts of the territory and the environmental claim of one of Chile’s sacrifice zones.

Claudia Moreno Pastenes, nascida em Antofagasta, Chile, trabalha desde 2018 como produtora de diversos grupos teatrais, além de dirigir o festival de teatro e memória “Matanza en tu Plaza”. Atualmente, ela está construindo um centro cultural autogerido para jovens artistas em uma casa abandonada. Seu trabalho está intimamente ligado às artes do território e à reclamação ambiental de uma das zonas de sacrifício do Chile.
