Synopsis
Migrant Whale denounces the drought of the Cuitzeo’s Lake, split in two by the construction of a highway. The Urbina Bolaños family, from the Pur’épecha plateau, set out to capture images of this landscape that used to be a lake. The narrative talks about a migrating whale that resolves to trek to survive the drought. Could it be that Cuitzeo’s lake also emigrated to save itself from overgrazing, exploitation, and misuse of its water resources?

Bio

Brenda Urbina is a Mexican actress, researcher, and performer. She has an acting degree (ENAT-INBA MX), and is a PhD student in Performing Arts (PPGAC-UFBA Brazil). She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group in EcoPerformance (GIPE-CORPO).
Michelle Urbina practices photography and film. She has participated in short film festivals and won the first place in the category of young creators from Michoacán 2020.

Sinopse
Migrant Whale denuncia a seca do lago Cuitzeo, dividido em dois pela construção de uma rodovia. A família Urbina Bolaños, do planalto de Pur’épecha, partiu para captar imagens desta paisagem que outrora foi um lago. A narrativa fala sobre uma baleia migratória que resolve fazer trekking para sobreviver à seca. Será que o lago de Cuitzeo também emigrou para se salvar do pastoreio excessivo, da exploração e do mau uso de seus recursos hídricos?

Bio
Brenda Urbina é uma atriz, pesquisadora e performer mexicana. Ela é formada em atuação (ENAT-INBA MX) e é doutoranda em Artes Cênicas (PPGAC-UFBA Brasil). É membro do Grupo de Pesquisa Interdisciplinar em EcoPerformance (GIPE-CORPO).
Michelle Urbina pratica fotografia e cinema. Ela participou de festivais de curtas-metragens e conquistou o primeiro lugar na categoria de jovens criadores de Michoacán 2020.
