Content: Led by the creators of the ecoperformance concept, Brazilian choreographer Maura Baiocchi and German director Wolfgang Pannek, the Ecoperformance Online Workshop presents a theoretical and practical approach that seeks to overcome the anthropocentric paradigm of the performing arts: a shift from the AnthropoScene to the SymbioScene. Hans-Thies Lehmann, the theorist of post-dramatic theater, described Baiocchi and Pannek’s work as “radically ‘green’ theater” and “a major research expedition into the field of the relationship between humans and the environment.” The creation of eco-poetic and eco-ethical performative presences and events has shaped the research of Taanteatro Companhia for over thirty years. In four sessions and within the methodological framework of choreographic theatre of tensions (taanteatro), the workshop presents an ecological understanding of the performing arts and imparts sound techniques for their implementation.

Maura Baiocchi
Considered “one of the great interpreter-creators of Brazil,” Maura Baiocchi is the founding director of the Taanteatro Company (*1991) and the International Ecoperformance Film Festival (*2021). Creator of taanteatro (choreographic theater of tensions). Pioneer of Butoh dance in Brazil. Master in communication and semiotics from PUC São Paulo with the dissertation “Body and communication in process: the tension principle in the Taanteatro experience.” Creator of more than eighty performances, Baiocchi is the author of the book Butoh Dança Veredas D’Alma (1995), the first book on butoh dance in Portuguese, and co-authored seven volumes on her own research with Wolfgang Pannek, including Choreographic Theater of Tensions: Forces & Forms (2020). Her international career as a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, teacher, and researcher includes countries such as Argentina, Germany, England, France, Belgium, Russia, the United States, Japan, and Mozambique.

Wolfgang Pannek
Originally from Germany and residing in Brazil since 1992, Wolfgang Pannek is an author, actor, and theater and film director. He is also the creator and promoter of artistic and cultural events. He holds a Master of Arts (Philosophy, Literature, and Psychology) from FernUniversität Hagen, Germany. Alongside Maura Baiocchi, he is the director of the Taanteatro Company and the director of the International Ecoperformance Film Festival. Pannek has directed highly acclaimed shows including cARTAUDgrafia (2015), 1001 Plateaus (2017), and On Violence: Fanon (2025), and has produced international projects encompassing performing arts, literature, visual arts, philosophy, and film. He directed film projects and acted in feature films and streaming series (HBO Brazil, TV Globo, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+). With Baiocchi, he is the author of books on taanteatro and has published articles in academic journals in Brazil, Argentina, France, and Germany.

Founded in 1991 in São Paulo, Brazil, by the Brazilian choreographer Maura Baiocchi, the Taanteatro Company is recognized for formulating a comprehensive critique of our civilization (Hans-Thies Lehmann) through the visual quality and gestural refinement (Folha de S. Paulo) of its stagings. The company’s work in the field of performing arts encompasses the development of the concepts and methodology of the choreographic theater of tensions (taanteatro), the creation of shows, performances, films and videos, the production of national and international interdisciplinary projects, and the publication of books and academic articles. NUTAAN 2025 is a training, research, creation and performance program in dance. It is part of the project “Da Violência: Fanon”, by Taanteatro Companhia, contemplated by the 36th Edition of the Municipal Program for the Promotion of Dance for the city of São Paulo — Municipal Department of Culture.
For four months, with two weekly meetings in a rehearsal room and four immersive meetings in open spaces (city and nature), dance artists will experience the methodology of the Taanteatro Company founded by choreographer Maura Baiocchi in 1991.
The Group introduces the concepts and practices of ‘taanteatro’ or ‘choreographic theater of tensions’, transmits techniques of traditional African, contemporary and urban dances and debates key ideas of Frantz Fanon’s anti-colonial thought. Based on this program and the thematic triangle of personal mythology, ancestry and contemporary violence, participants will be guided in the creation of solos to be presented publicly at the closing of NUTAAN 2025.

Body & Creation is the first edition of Núcleo Taanteatro Fazenda Vitória. It aims to promote the health of the body through creative practices including dance and theater modalities. Open to the regulars and residents of Bairrro Fazenda Vitória in São Lourenço da Serra / SP and lasting two months, the first edition of the workshop is adapted to local demands and invites the adult audience to try out general body practices, dance techniques and of theater aiming at psychophysical strengthening.

The workshop is a realization of Taanteatro Companhia, founded in 1991 in São Paulo by choreographer Maura Baiocchi. Since 2001, the company has its rural headquarters in Bairro Fazenda Vitória, where the Taanteatro Oficina Residência is held annually. The conducting of NuTaan Fazenda Vitória is the responsibility of Mozambican dancer Jorge Ndlozy and German theater director Wolfgang Pannek.

20 years after its first edition, the Taanteatro Residence Workshop, held annually at the rural headquarters of Taanteatro Company in São Lourenço da Serra (SP / Brazil), continues to open new horizons in the field of the performing arts. TTOR 2020, the commemorative edition of the residence, is designed to meet the challenge of performative decolonization and artistic autonomy through body art and thought.

In two decades, hundreds of professionals and students from the performing arts and other fields of knowledge, from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France and Paraguay, attended TTOR seeking a true creative immersion, aimed at the realization of their expressive potential and the refinement of their performative presence.

Guided by international team, TTOR 2020 introduces not only to the practices and concepts of taanteatro (choreographic theater of tensions), but also guides participating performers in creating solos based on the (de)construction of their (trans)personal mythology.

In addition, and within the thematic context of (de)colonization, the residence will address the following issues:

Taanteatro Companhia opens again its rural headquarters in São Lourenço da Serra (SP / Brazil) offering a creative immersion program that introduces to the practices and concepts of taanteatro (choreographic theater of tensions).

The TTOR 2019 is destined to dancers, actors, directors, performers and professionals and students from other areas of knowledge interested in an intense work of rescue, expansion and realization of their scenic presence and their expressive potential. The residence includes the creation of a solo based on the method [des]construction of performance based on [trans]personal mythology.

Organized annually since 2001 TTOR received artists from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France and Germany.

The international Taanteatro Residence Workshop 2018 offers a revitalizing immersion program introducing to taanteatro dynamics. TTOR 2018 welcomes performing artists as well as practitioners from other creative areas interested in the expansion and development and of their expressive potential. Creation of a solo performance during the residence.

The residence is triggered by The Great Health, a notion proposed by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche who conceives human life as a dynamic and artistic phenomenon. Great Health implies the construction of bodies willing to explore new worlds, new values and new life forms and presupposes the cultivation of an creative, joyful and fearless attitude.

Limited to 12 participants the workshop takes place in a beautiful tropical environment and includes housing, food and didactic materials.

The participation in TTOR 2018 provides the opportunity to integrate the 1st Edition of ART RESIDENCE TAANTEATRO – ARTT. Tanz braucht Kreativität, um sich zu entfalten und die Seele zu erreichen. Mit Kreativität wird Tanz einzigartig und Teil eines weiten Raumes. Welche Bedeutung haben Tanz und Kreativität für uns im Alltag? Lassen sie sich mit Spiritualität verbinden – sind sie ihre Verkörperung? Auf der tänzerischen Ebene erforschen wir den Spannungsbogen zwischen Choreographie und Improvisation, um unseren persönlichen künstlerischen Ausdruck zu finden. Auf einer tieferen Ebene entdecken wir die Beziehung zwischen dem Profanen und dem Heiligen.
Gemeinsam mit unseren Gastdozenten wollen wir in dieser Winterschool ergründen, wie kreativer Tanz unsere Vorstellung von Tanz transformieren kann. Mit Techniken und Methoden aus Tanz, Theater und Meditation werden wir unbekannte Erfahrungsräume erkunden.

El Haddawi ist eine Schule für Movement Concept®, Tanz, Theater und Bewegungskunst. Sie lehrt an der Schnittstelle von Körperarbeit, darstellender Kunst und Spiritualität. Mit körperorientierten Methoden, mit Meditation und Humor nähern wir uns mystischem Erleben und Verständnis an.
Zusätzlich zu den Seminaren, die von Ingo Taleb Rashid und den Gastdozenten unterrichtet werden, sind eine Eröffnungs-Veranstaltung, verschiedene interaktive Vorträge und Raum für musikalische und tänzerische Improvisation geplant.
Die El Haddawi Winterschool hat ein seit ihrer Gründung bewährtes Format: Der Teilnehmer muss sich nicht zwischen parallelen Seminaren entscheiden, sondern ein Tag teilt sich auf in einzelne Unterrichtseinheiten der Dozenten, die in der Regel auch die Stunden ihrer Kollegen besuchen. Durch diese besondere Form der Zusammenarbeit entsteht im Laufe der Winterschool eine inspirierende Synergie.

Der Workshop “Körper ohne Organe und Toter Körper”, unter der Leitung der brasilianischen Choreographin Maura Baiocchi und des deutschen Regisseurs Wolfgang Pannek, lädt zu Praktiken und zur Reflexion über Tanz und Spiritualität in zeitgenössischen Lebenswelten ein. Den Ausgangspunkt der Begegnung bildet der Dialog zwischen dem Begriff des expressiven Körpers im Theater der Grausamkeit von Antonin Artaud und dem Butoh-Tanz von Tatsumi Hijikata und Kazuo Ohno. Baiocchi und Pannek leiten die seit 1991 in São Paulo ansässige, mehrfach preisgekrönte Taanteatro Companhia und befinden sich mit dem Stück “Artaud, le Momo” zwischen November und Dezember auf Europa-Tournee.

Each meeting begins with an explanation of the origin and history of
